With the University of Granada and other renowned educational institutions, the city attracts a large student population, creating a vibrant community with numerous activities and events aimed specifically at students.

In addition, Granada is a city rich in culture and history. With its Moorish heritage and historic sites such as the Alhambra, Granada offers students the opportunity to become part of an environment steeped in artistic and architectural beauty. Exploring the narrow streets of the Albayzín district or enjoying the traditional flamenco performances in the Sacromonte district are just a few of the cultural experiences students can enjoy.

Restaurants
When you do an internship in Spain, you naturally also want to discover the gastronomy of Spain. The best way to do this is to visit local restaurants. In Granada there is a wide range of restaurants, from meat, fish to vegetarian dishes, which has always been part of the Andalusian cuisine. Did you know that Granada is famous for its free tapas! Usually these are served automatically when you order a drink in a bar or restaurant, sometimes you can choose but often this is a standard tapa. This is a perfect way to discover Spanish cuisine, and who wouldn’t want a free tapa?

Nightlife
Granada has a vibrant nightlife and, like Málaga, it is not seasonal.

Calle Pedro Antonio de Alarcón is a popular street in Granada. There are many bars, clubs and discotheques that are open until the early hours. It is a popular destination for both locals and international students.

Plaza Nueva is a historic square in the center of Granada, where many bars and restaurants can be found. It’s a great place to start going out, like grabbing a drink!

El Realejo is a neighborhood in Granada with a lively atmosphere and many bars and pubs. It is a popular place for students as it is relatively affordable compared to other parts of the city.

Chana is another neighborhood in Granada that is popular with students where there are many bars and clubs open until the early hours of the morning and a great place to meet new people.

Paseo de los Tristes is a beautiful street at the foot of the Alhambra Palace. It has a number of bars and restaurants with great views of the Alhambra. It is a perfect place to relax and enjoy a drink.

Plaza Bib-Rambla is the vibrant heart of the city of Granada. Trade was already conducted here, and bullfights took place here. Now students, tourists and locals like to enjoy it on one of the terraces and people like to spend time around the fountain.

Public transport

Public transport in Granada is well organized. Students can apply for a special bus card called the ‘bonobus’ which gives them a discount on using the buses there! There are several taxi points in the city, which are also affordable for shorter distances.

In addition, Granada has good train connections with other nice cities such as:

  1. Malaga: Granada is located about 130 kilometers east of Malaga. There are regular bus and train services between the two cities, making it easy to travel from Granada to Malaga.
  2. Seville: Granada is located about 250 kilometers west of Seville. There are direct train connections between the two cities, providing a comfortable travel option.
  3. Cordoba: Granada is located about 200 kilometers northwest of Cordoba. Train services are available to travel between the two cities, with transfer options in Antequera.
  4. Madrid: Granada is located about 420 kilometers southeast of Madrid. There are daily direct trains between Madrid and Granada, which take about 4 hours.
