My experience so far
I’m Jari Zijm, 19 years old, and I’m currently doing an internship in Benalmadena. As part of my studies in Hospitality Management and Entrepreneurship, I had the opportunity to pursue an international internship. I, along with a classmate of mine, chose to take advantage of this opportunity. We both found our internships through Jongleren, with me landing a position in a hotel in Benalmadena and Lars securing a spot in an apartment complex in Mijas.
My internship spans from early September to the end of January, which is quite a lengthy period. In the Netherlands, I’m an avid soccer player. On a regular week, I used to play five days a week, with two days dedicated to indoor soccer and three days to field soccer. So, I had the idea of continuing to play soccer during my internship. I sent several emails to clubs in my vicinity back in June, but I didn’t get many responses. That’s when I decided to explore the possibility of finding a soccer club here in Fuengirola. I stumbled upon the indoor soccer club FS Fuengirola through a colleague at my hotel. I got in touch with the coach and was warmly welcomed into the team. I now train twice a week, and the indoor soccer season is about to begin, which means I’ll have matches every weekend!
I’m still looking into the possibility of joining a field soccer club in the area, but it seems challenging because the season has already started, and I might not be able to register. However, I’m still exploring if there’s a way for me to join somewhere.
